Where have the last few weeks gone? It's amazing how quickly time flies when you're having fun - or grappling with an infinite to-do list following our merger!!
Firstly, though, we've received some very positive feedback about our decision to merge, so a big thank you to all those that got in touch. It's important to us that we have the backing of our existing and prospect customers, and it's encouraging that you recognise the combined value of Proximity Communications.
So much so, that we've had a steady flurry of new projects, many of which are focused on reducing costs across the business and exploiting and integrating existing infrastructure.
Many of our clients are making long-term decisions about how they use technology. Unifying their communications is establishing itself as a compelling and cost-effective way of achieving the benefits of collaborative tools and burgeoning 'social enterprise' model. Similarly, we've continued to integrate our two businesses - and there's been tremendous progress. It's exciting to see our vision beginning to take shape, so here's a quick update on where we are in the grand scheme:
We are now in the final throws of the lease and plans for our new office and we're hoping to host our opening night in the next couple of months. In the meantime, however, we've completed the merger of our helpdesk facilities into a central services provision. The usual contact details still apply, but now we've even more hands-on-deck, providing the dedicated experience we're committed to. We have also created a new team within Proximity Communications called the Technology Solutions Group (TSG). Headed up by our Technical Director, Bert Casula, the TSG have been reviewing our current propositions and ensuring that we have the right skills in the right technologies in order to meet our client's future requirements. For example, we've recently started working with an up and coming wireless networking vendor, Aerohive - check them out at www.aerohive.com.
As to our existing partners, we continue to monitor the Nortel situation closely. The speculation is astonishing, and it's often difficult to decipher real news from hearsay but we're certain they will have a firm restructuring plan before the end of this year. Either way, we remain a focused Nortel Solutions Provider and continue to have the most experienced and competent team within the industry to serve our clients.
In regards our own competencies (cue, trumpets), we've just been awarded Microsoft Voice Specialisation Partner (VSP), adding to our growing expertise.Looking to the future, our ultimate ambition is to be seen as an extension of our client's IT team, and everything we're doing now is focused on achieving this. What does this mean? In a nutshell, consultants that continue to consult, and advise on strategy; ongoing skills development to implement and execute those strategies, and support services for all our solutions.
As you can gather, Proximity is a hive of activity but we're getting through our to-do list at a good pace, which is testament to the planning and people involved.
That's all for now; we'll keep you posted on progress, but please if you have anything you would like to discuss, don't hesitate to get in touch.
