PRESS

17th MARCH 2009

We have just completed the first week as 'Proximity Communications' and, wow, what a week!

It was probably one of the most hectic in the team's history, certainly of my career. Though it was busy with various meetings and calls, the opportunities that have emerged from interaction with our clients and prospects have been amazing and beyond expectations. Press coverage of the merger has been excellent, and our thanks go to PR agency Cohesive Communications who have been fully involved in last week's launch, and supporting us in the months prior to the merger.

My fellow directors and I committed a number of months working on the merger - change takes time - but it has been fantastic to see the level of enthusiasm from staff and how quickly they have pulled together as one.

After just one week, the team has really driven our culture of 'putting the customer first' and worked tirelessly to ensure customers are at ease, and any queries answered.

Since the merger we have completed a number of significant actions including:

  • Communicated to literally hundreds of our customers, partners and suppliers the benefits and potential of the merger
  • Contacted and met with a number of customers who view our position as one of strength that they can benefit from and utilise our enhanced offering
  • Initiated internal team meetings and started joint engagement
  • Numerous press interviews communicating the message
  • Had our first official joint management meeting as Proximity Communications plc
  • Spent time with the new team understanding their views of the merger
  • Agreed on the new headquarters and started planning on how it will deliver on our requirements when fully refurbished

Sunday, though, I managed to get some time-out, and was lucky enough to attend the England v France Six Nations rugby at Twickenham. What a fantastic spectacle to see England play so well in the first half; play which can only be described as world class, and is really promising for the future.

I tried to imagine the challenge the French team had in front of them and, more to the point, what the French Coach would say in the dressing room at half time? Whatever he said they came out a completely different team, and subsequently dominated the second half, scoring 10 points to England's 5. It was amazing to see the change the talk made.

I hope going forward that when we, as a team, hit some of our future challenges, we can pull together as they did, knowing what to say and do to ensure we all feel as motivated and full of belief as they did.

Well done England though, a slightly different game ahead against Scotland next weekend to look forward to!!!!

That's all so far; Proximity Communications will keep you updated on progress and please, if you have anything you would like to discuss, don't hesitate to get in touch.
